First, everyone should know that the Fort Worth area boasts wonderful weather. Summers can get a bit hot, however, the heat is manageable and outdoor activities on the hottest five or six days can simply be avoided, the rest of the summer is warm, but pleasant. Fall and spring is absolutely gorgeous while winters are generally quite mild. That was on of the most difficult things to leave behind when deciding to move. South East Fort Worth had great schools. My children truly enjoyed attending school each day, though they were young. Additionally, there were some other great middle class families that were heavily involved in the school. Additionally, the cost of living was relatively low, and we could enjoy many activities with our family. More than we would have enjoyed had we lived elsewhere. However, the perks of the neighborhood pretty much end here.

Perhaps the worst aspect of living in Fort Worth was the crime. There is an awfully lot of crime, even in the family oriented area that we lived in. I didn't feel safe going out at night and of course, I was even more concerned about the safety of my young children. There was constant cause for alarm. Though we never had any direct problems, we were lucky, as we knew plenty of others who were victims of crime and criminal activity.

Another deal breaker is that there isn't much of a distinct culture about the area. It is seriously lacking in a good selection of quality restaurants and stores. There isn't much in the way of nightlife or entertainment and often, it feels like a bland old neighborhood without any sort of draw whatsoever. For my family and me, though there were some nice aspects of the area, it wasn't enough to keep us living there for more than a few years.
