personally i do not like flower mound because people here are very spoiled and act rude. i have lived in all kinds of places, richest and poorest, but i think flower mound is full of snobs and a small amount of kind ppl.
This is a depressing town to live in. Rude people that only care about themselves and their money.People think it has great school and that's a lie! The kids are miserable and most of the parents are out of touch with what's going on. The cost of living is ridiculous. People pay stupid amounts just to rent before buying. The owners of these properties just scam you because they know you can't find anyone else that won't. Its a town that sucks the life out of you and its hard to get out once your in! The justice system is just out to trap kids so don't move here!!!! People think its such a upscale town. Its right by Lewisville! Ate you kidding me? The run down, gang looking scum are around the corner. You have to sit in it when going anywhere outside you little flower town circle of fake!
One thing you would want to know if your black is be super careful driving out at night, because you will get pulled over by a cop. Why is this? well because black people to them look supicious. This black guy gotten pulled over 4 times in one week. They dont like black people and the flower mound judge is on their polcing side. Knowing this as a business owner i would relocate my business to a highly diverse part of the city. Flower Mound isnt it. However apart from the system the folks are very nice and pleasant. Please think twice before you decide to open a business and or live in this town. Research Flower Mound before you attempt to get herassed.
Flower Mound is safe, with good (not great) schools and quiet family communities. If that is all you are looking for in a city then FM may be perfect for you.
I have to disagree with this website's "average summer temperature" of 82 degrees. NO WAY. Just last summer we had over 30 days straight of 100+ degree weather and factor in nearly 50% humidity...it gets miserable. I moved here from Phoenix and the summers are more tolerable there IMHO. Also considering the summer season here goes on for close to 5 months...well, you get my point I'm sure.
I consider myself somewhat of a food snob so I have to say the restaurant selections in FM is subpar. If you are OK with fast food and chain restaurants then it may not be an issue for you. We find ourselves driving 30-60 minutes for a nice meal with some authenticity/variety. For the higher rent/mortgage expenses there should be easy access to so much more without having to drive to Dallas or Fort Worth.
Speaking of Dallas/Fort Worth, Flower Mound is about equidistant from the 2 which can be a big plus for job prospects. It is not the most ideal commute but is doable. Unfortunately, public transportation falls desperately short so you will likely be driving yourself anywhere you need to go. And the traffic here is horrendous. The drivers are not courteous at all. Don't believe me? Google worst places to drive survey 2007 and you will see DFW ranked #2, second only to NYC. Seriously, the drivers here would sooner let you crash into a wall then let you merge. I've never seen anything like it.
I find the schools highly segregated in FM (and TX in general). I am a Caucasian and still find it odd that nearly 97% of my son's school is white. I prefer more diversity, as how does one become culturally competent otherwise? Also if you are not a particularly religious family you (or your children) may be somewhat of an outcast. I find FM families to have higher than average religiosity. These concepts also find their way into public schools.
Overall FM is a good community but we are researching options for relocation.
I have lived in Flower Mound, TX for many years now. This is a wonderful location for families to enjoy. This city's name comes from the huge mound of wildflowers that decorates it. This is a beautiful place to visit or live. This area has a lot of sunshine in the summertime and a nice cool breeze in the winter. Enjoy the fresh air in this welcoming community.
There are many fun things to do in this area. Golf lovers will enjoy the Tour 18 Dallas attraction. There are many delicious restaurants to enjoy. You can find local diners or enjoy well-known coffee shops like Starbucks. There are many good shopping areas in this city too. The Highlands of Flower Mound is large outdoor shopping center that offers many different shopping places from popular department stores to unique specialty shops. There are other malls in the area too along with small businesses.
The school system in this area is good. You can choose from public or private schools for your children to attend. This community is very friendly and welcoming. You will enjoy how laid back the atmosphere is. This area is great for outdoor fun for all ages. There are many different biking and hiking trails to enjoy. If you enjoy wildlife and nature, then this is a great area for you to explore. There are many things to do indoors and out in this part of the world.
