Having lived in Fishers, Indiana for over five decades, I want to provide a perspective that strongly supports the observations made by the reviewer from 2021. While I respect the positive experience shared by the reviewer from 2024, it is important to recognize that individual, ...Read More
short-term comfort cannot override decades of documented systemic issues.
The reviewer from 2021’s comments are grounded in real, verifiable evidence, including the 2017 federal investigation by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) into Hamilton County and Noblesville. This investigation found that local officials engaged in discriminatory practices by blocking affordable housing development and refusing to accept housing vouchers, effectively excluding lower-income and minority families. This pattern of exclusionary zoning and policy is a form of structural discrimination that preserves Fishers’ racial and economic homogeneity.
The official HUD complaint provided by the 2021 reviewer details these violations of the Fair Housing Act and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. These findings aren’t isolated—they reflect a broader national trend where affluent suburbs maintain exclusivity through zoning laws that disproportionately affect marginalized groups.
Furthermore, when examining crime and safety, it becomes clear why Fishers maintains low violent crime rates: the most vulnerable populations facing poverty and violence are concentrated in neighboring Marion County, including Indianapolis, which suffers from extremely high violent crime and gun death rates. For example, Indianapolis’s murder rate is more than five times that of New York City, despite NYC’s much larger population, according to FBI Uniform Crime Reporting data and CDC firearm mortality statistics. Indiana’s lax gun laws, including permitless carry, contribute to these elevated violence rates, as shown by research from the Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions.
While the reviewer from 2024’s experience as a newcomer may have been welcoming, it doesn’t negate the systemic barriers that have historically excluded many people from living in Fishers. Being personally welcomed doesn’t mean that the city’s policies haven’t long functioned to restrict who can live there.
In conclusion, the reviewer from 2021’s observations are not merely anecdotal or bitter—they reflect a reality confirmed by federal investigations, demographic data, and decades of housing and violence research. Ignoring these facts risks overlooking the deep-rooted inequalities shaping Fishers today.

I'm only writing this review to excuse the anonymous submitted June 03, 2021. My wife and I moved from Colorado and have nothing but good things to say about our neighbors and community. My wife is an immigrant from Latin America and our neighborhood is diverse, even more so than ...Read More
the majority-blue community we lived in Colorado. It would be an understatement to say how our community made us feel welcome... Even as people "other than what the majority of Fishers is living."

First, I would like to say I lived in Fishers for 18 years, from 1988 to 2006. I've seen and I'm very familiar with how this city operates and conducts itself. One can see that Fishers Indiana has very good reviews, and one can spend time in Fishers and see that they have good ...Read More
schools, low crime, jobs etc. It seems like the perfect place to live and raise a family. But you must understand what really is going on here for this city to achieve these great stats. This city attains this by enforcing and promoting massive inequality, discrimination, and non existent human rights. The city practically bathes itself in nationalistic/fascist ideology. If you are white, privileged, coming from a wealthy family you will be treated and given the American dream. But if you are black, disabled, ethnic minority, feminist, homosexual, intellectual, Muslim, socialist, Jew, vegan, Mexican, transgender, or anything other than what the majority is living in Fishers, you will be exorcised and treated with disdain ,disgust, and intolerance. To where you are forbidden from living in Fishers or Hamilton county IN.
As they see these people as a sub human race, that must be purged from society immediately. Here is an article which explains how Fishers purposely refuses to build low income housing, that way they can keep out any non white unprivileged people, or (sub human race as they like to refer to them as). As income can be highly correlated with race and minorities. I say these things as unbiased and factual as possible.Based on what I experienced and witnessed from living in Fishers IN for 18 years. And I want to make one thing clear here, I myself am a white male saying this, to bring to light the massive human rights issue and injustice that is going on in Fishers Indiana. Here is some reading material on this. https://www.indystar.com/story/news/local/hamilton-county/2017/07/06/hud-investigates-noblesville-hamilton-county-fair-housing-complaints/440015001/?fbclid=IwAR39S9nwbGIC9xhndeF5s5z5QmV0Tn_Hbq6u0-11GC96UFTUpJTqYVA1-74

I resided in Fishers, Indiana in Hamilton County from 2005 through 2012. There are a number of attractions, restaurants, night life, and shopping options available. Of note, Fishers was nominated in Money Magazine as one of the best places to live. It is a suburban town which the ...Read More
population increased substantially in the seven years I resided here. The community I found to be quaint, including an average home value in the 250s and average rent at $950 per month. Crime is kept in check and unemployment runs relatively half of the state of Indiana at four percent. I enjoyed the four full seasons in Fishers including the cold temperatures and snow during December, January and February, and comfortable mid 80 degree temperatures in June, July and August.
Schooling is readily available at all levels and ranks as the highest in the state including 10 elementary schools, Hamilton Southeastern High School, and continuing education at Butler University, Marian University, and Indiana University-Purdue University (IUPU). All religious denominations are local including Methodist, Catholic, Lutheran, Episcopalian, and Churches of Christ. I had a number of restaurants that I frequented and recommend Peterson's, King Chef Chinese Restaurant, and Sahm's Restaurant and Bar.
My family and I stayed active by using the S.P.O.R.T. recreation facilities at Billericay Park. A multitude of sports are offered including baseball, basketball, football, lacrosse, rugby, soccer, softball, volleyball, and track for all ages. During the afterhours night life I enjoyed the Fionn MacCool's Irish Pub that always offered a wide variety of rock and interesting Irish folk type music. Finally, there is a vast array of shopping options in Fishers. I frequented the Deer Creek Shop, Centre North Shops, Hobbytown USA, North by the Northeast Shopping Center, and Super Target for my groceries. The nice thing about Fishers is if I could not find what I needed, then Indianapolis was just 30 minutes down the road on I-465.
