The best area in Emporia, KS is near the Emporia Country Club off 18th Avenue, which is where I live. There are, however, a lot of lower income neighborhoods here as a significant number of the population is at or below the poverty level. I suppose that makes Emporia a good place ...Read More
to live if you're struggling because the cost of housing is a lot lower than many other places.
The elementary and secondary schools here are pretty good, but the big draw for me is the fact that the kids can go from preschool all the way through college in town with Emporia State University being here. It is a huge money saver on both tuition as well as travel and housing costs.
Our favorite place to go living in Emporia is the Brickyard 20 Ale House on Merchant Street. They've got a family friendly restaurant and arcade as well as Ladies Night and Karaoke for the adults.
