I am proud to say that I was able to enjoy my early adulthood living in Elkhart, IN. I lived in Elkhart, IN for about 13 years before relocating for a job. Elkhart was a place I called home and enjoyed many wonderful memories from those times.

y located about 15 miles away from South Bend. Its racial makeup is diverse, along with socioeconomic statuses. Even though on paper the median income is said to be around $43,000 for a family, you would never guess by witnessing how carefree and content the families seemed. I never once felt as if I did not fit in, which made my living there extremely pleasant.
It seems as if there is something always going on in Elkhart. In fact, every year in July a 3 day jazz festival is held on the Elkhart River. This is one of the biggest jazz festivals in the country. Even though I was not a fan per say of jazz music the festival ended up being a good time for my friends and me! Besides this annual festival, Elkhart also has several museums and recreational areas. My favorite past time activity was golf, and I was a member at Bent Oak Golf Club. There are many public golf courses as well if one does not want to become a member.
Dining, shopping, and nightlife are found throughout the city. Everything was fairly close and anything one is looking for can be found without having to leave city limits. If one does want to venture out of the city though for even better shopping and dining, Chicago is conveniently only 110 miles away. If would take me under 2 hours to get there.
Elkhart is great city in which I miss very much. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking into moving there. There is always something to do and somewhere to go when you are in Elkhart, Indiana.
