One of the advantages of moving to Winnetka Heights is that if you notify the neighborhood, you will receive a Neighborhood Membership Packet. This packet provided me with a restaurant guide, local coupons and contact information. You can also download a PDF of the packet online. ...Read More
I found the history of this neighborhood to be extraordinarily compelling. Winnetka Heights was a large residential development that was first planned out in 1908. The pioneers wanted a place of their own. It was located on the south side of the Trinity River in the Oak Cliff section. The housing offers one-story frame bungalows and two-story Four Square homes influenced by life on the prairie. This neighborhood could be considered one of the most intact historic neighborhoods, compared to other 20th century neighborhoods in Dallas. Winnetka Heights was adopted as the sixth historic district of Dallas in 1981. If you move here, you would be living in the largest historic district in Dallas. The only complaint I have is that sometimes I wish I had a little more space to myself.
You may want to visit the Oak Cliffs Nature Preserve. This is a 121-acre natural preserve found in the heart of Oak Cliff. I love nature and that can sometimes be hard to find in Dallas, so I was happy to move near this location. Additionally, Winnetka Heights would be an prime location to get some of the best and most authentic Mexican food. Dallas is known for having great Mexican food, and one of the target hotspots near Winnetka Heights would be at El Tizoncito. A Sunday drive around the neighborhood can be great fun, seeing how hypnotic and stunning the older homes look and noticing the differences of construction in contrast to modern-day construction.
One of the things you will discover about Winnetka Heights is that the nightlife is radiant. The area has numerous sport's clubs such as Maple Ave Boxing. Additionally, Winnetka Heights has famously become a popular shopping and bar location. You might also enjoy a bike ride through this picturesque neighborhood. I love going on bike rides here, and I find I'm excited for it because I get my exercise while taking in the natural beauty of the area. Winnetka Heights has their own cocktail called the Nova, Bolsa. I don't have children, but my neighbors have two and have said that the Rosemont Early Childhood PTA has been an irreplaceable lifeline. The Winnetka Heights area has a small town feel despite being a neighborhood of Dallas. There is a massive selection of activities to ensure you have a good time.
