Crystal Lake, Illinois: A Great Place for Top Education User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( Aug 18, 2015) I currently live in an area called Crystal Lake that is located in Illinois. There is so much to love about this area including the excellent education as well the the local amenities in this area. I was born and raised in Chicago. I was always accustomed to the city life. Curren ...Read More tly, I am residing in a quieter area with a house that offers much more room and comfort that many other places offer.

One of the best aspects of living here in Crystal Lake is the fact that everything is within walking distance. My family and I live in a area where school is within walking distance. If the school is outside of a mile to your house, a student is also able to take the bus. This means that no matter what, your child will attend school. The schools here are also excellent. My 2 high school students are enrolled in the IB program and are being taught so much more than when lived in Chicago. There is more care that is put into the schools here in Crystal Lake. I also enjoy the fact that I am able to visit the local coffee shop every morning for my latte. The workers there know me so it feels more like a community rather than just the place I live in.

The only downside to living here is the cost of living here as well as the weather. I am a sun lover which is ironic because I grew up in the windy city. If you are to live here, expect to bundle up during the period of December to March. Temperatures will often be below freezing. Another downside is that groceries and gas prices tend to be more on the expensive side which is why I shop day to day rather than in bulk. Read Less
