Remember J.R. On "Dallas"? Then You Would Love Corsicana, TX 4 rating By Anonymous ( May 10, 2018) Welcome to Corsicana, Texas, which is the birthplace of the Texas oil industry! Do you remember J.R.'s exploits on the TV show Dallas? If so, you will definitely appreciate this small suburb of Dallas.

If you enjoy history, then Corsicana has a lot of attractions for you. There ...Read More are a number of Civil War exhibits, plus there is Petroleum Park, which has a main claim to fame for being the birthplace of Texas oil!

Corsicana is a very close-knit community of 25,000, which is definitely a plus. However, the roads are not always the best. When I lived there, I had to replace several tires because of the constant road construction.

There are some restaurants there, especially if you like Mexican food. The Old Mexican Inn and Cantina is a staple there; it was established in 1941 and is family-owned.

Shopping can be a bit limited, but it does have the College Park Mall.

Those who enjoy the nightlife might have to go to Dallas, which is about an hour's drive away. Corsicana is what it is, but it is a good place for raising a family. Read Less
