Small town lifestyle with big city industry User Rating 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 28, 2018) I lived in Corning NY from 1990 up through 2010. It has a very pleasant small town feel, with a very quaint main street with plenty of knickknack shops and restaurants. There is a nearby mall and several shopping centers about 15 minutes away in Big Flats NY. It was a very cozy p ...Read More lace to live, with easy access to stores and food. Winters can get a little harsh for someone unaccustomed with Upstate New York's colder months, but the summers more than make up for it.

Corning's claim to fame has always been glass. They have a museum where they have lots of unusual glass on display, and you can even watch live demonstrations of glass blowing. Today, Corning produces screen glass for several different smartphone manufacturers.

I enjoyed my time living in Corning, and the only reason I moved was for work. One of the best areas in Corning is the illuminated pedestrian bridge, and is definitely worth a visit when in town. Read Less
