Conway, Great Living Outside Of The Busy Beach User Rating 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 10, 2018) I moved to Conway after coming home from the military. As a child, the beach was always a distant trip because it was an hour from home and I didn't have a car, so I knew that I wanted to be near the sea without all of the hassle.

Unfortunately, the beach itself can be a hassle.
...Read More Highways 501 and 544 are a challenge during the summer, so I chose an area that isn't necessarily locked down once those highways have bumper-to-bumper traffic.

Living in Conway, SC gives you access to the beach and a lot of back roads around the area without having to pay beach prices. Is there standstill traffic on 501? You can get to North Myrtle Beach to the north or Surfside Beach to the South by taking longer ways around, and get easier traffic along the coast while 501 is still packed.

The best areas in Conway, SC are the downtown area, 544 heading towards Socastee, and the outskirts of town heading towards Georgetown on Highway 701. Horry-Georgetown Technical College and Coastal Carolina are next to each other at most campus areas, and the tech-focused learning makes getting help from engineers and technicians easy.

Downtown restaurants are amazing, with some great Southern cuisine and nice bars with good fun that doesn't get too out of hand. There are a lot of great sushi restaurants with one on 544, one downtown, and another on 501 near Tanger Outlet and Kroger. Read Less
