Colessville, MD: Future Expansion Or A Missed Opportunity User Rating 1.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 23, 2018) Living in Colesville, MD there was great anticipation when the State of Maryland announced the coming construction of Route 202, known as the Intercounty Connector. Route 202 would connect Prince Geoge's County along I-95 west through eastern Montgomery County. It would make driv ...Read More ing from areas around Washington, DC to parts of Montgomery County just north of DC easier. As of 2018, that potential has been unrealized.

Restaurants line New Hampshire Avenue, but that is the main dining area in Colesville. There are very few chain restaurants, as most are owed by individual owners. Shopping is focused in the same area. Most hoped these areas would expand with completion of the Intercounty Connector.

It's still possible for future development in the county as people move away from the more urban areas. The cost of living and cost of homes is less in Colesville than it is in surrounding Montgomery County areas to the west and safer than Prince George's County to the east. Read Less
