Grew up in CR User Rating 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( Mar 26, 2021) I grew up in Chicago Ridge and only moved a few towns away for a few years then moved back. My kids went to the same schools I went to as a child. This is a nice mostly quiet community. Most homes are very well kept. Schools are nice. There is plenty of shopping in town and very ...Read More near by. Train station is nice if you work downtown or just to take a day trip. Plenty of bus stops if you prefer to ride the bus. Its a great place to just walk around the town for a workout. Nice well kept parks. Police department does a great job on keeping the neighborhood safe. It is close enough to larger neighborhoods with more nightlife if that's something you want. The town is working to get more nice stores into the mall. I love that I can drive to the city or to the country in a short amount of time. Overall I would say Chicago Ridge is a great place to raise children. Read Less

Shopping, dining and nightlife in Chicago Ridge is good. The city is home to a shopping mall (Commons of Chicago Ridge Shopping Center) and has a few good dining and nightlife options that are not franchises. If you're looking for even more options though, you're quite close to many other vibrant and cultural suburbs of the Chicago region that have even more to offer.

The weather in this town is comparable to that of the rest of the state or the Midwest in general. Winters can be very cold and snowy, while summers are hot and humid. It is worth noting for potential homebuyers that this town is located near tornado alley and is subject to potential tornadoes during the spring and summer months. Read Less
