Good old boys control this city

This city is controlled by a white male, very staunchly rooted conservatism which continually seeks to profit the real estate owners of the city, rather than the local inhabitants. Rampant and flagrant racism, marked by oddly-placed and stiffly executed tubman/slave murals- poin ...Read More
tedly executed by rich white men-show a distinct lack of respect and a capitalization of the rich historical past. Foreigner-averse locals, sexist attitudes, and as well vocal anti- liberal sentiments are the norm in this sometimes cute and historic town. Sadly enough, a distinct lack of education and very poor county schools continue a trend of ignorance which leaves newer transplants isolated and on the fringes with little or no social acceptance. While this is true of many small towns, it is particularly rampant here. City policy focuses on tourism and property development for wealthy landowners. Ghettoes and violence abound outside of the tiny historic arts district.

Living in Cambridge, Maryland provides me a place to lay my head at night, but really that is about it. This area monopolizes on tourism, and if you are visiting, then your experience will be great; however, it seems as if the city is literally pouring everything into tourism. Th ...Read More
ere is really nothing here for the year-round resident.
The best areas in Cambridge, Maryland, and that is reaching far is the small movie theater that is here, but even that is overpriced. I can say that the restaurant Bistro Poplar does offer great food. The cost of living here is also expensive. Crime in this area is very high. I do not feel safe here after dark.
My immediate neighbors do seem friendly enough, but that isn’t enough to outweigh the cons. There is just so much room for improvement here. The city needs to focus on the local residents more and not worry only about the tourist. We pay taxes and deserve some improvements.
