Boone Iowa: A Refreshing Gem 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 28, 2018) I had a refreshing experience while living in Boone Iowa. The city is located in Boone County. Boone is close to Jefferson North Carolina. The town has great educational resources. It houses both public and private schools with great academics in place. Employment is somewhat def ...Read More icient there, but housing and the cost of living balance out. The weather is unbelievably nice. The town is very community friendly.

Some of the best areas in Boone Iowa surround Ledges State Park which is four miles from Boone. This is a tourist area with lots of great dining, unique boutiques, along with all the natural park amenities any area can offer. The park is special in the fact that it is one of the first state parks in Iowa. It was built in 1924 and surrounds a tributary of the Des Moines River. It has a number of stone bridges and buildings. I enjoy picnicking and camping there with my family. The views here are breathtaking, and the weather allows year-round recreation. Boone is a great place to live or to visit. Read Less
