Shorewood wi to Beloit transplant User Rating 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( Feb 21, 2022) Initially my thoughts on Beloit was only what I’ve heard…which were mostly negative. It wasn’t until I actually visited with my then fiancé that I fell in love with the area. We chose to move here for the lower cost of living, beautiful homes in well kept neighborhoods for ...Read More wayyyy less than those 20 minutes or less away, sooo much more diversity with locals and those from Beloit college. Parks are everywhere, plenty of places to go hiking, the downtown is completely redone with trendy restaurants and cool bars. Neat little towns are so close by!! Rockton is SO close and always has stuff going on in the summer…on top of the many family oriented activities Beloit already offers, it’s easy to find things to do within a 10 minute radius. We are central to Milwaukee/Madison/Chicago and very close to Janesville/Rockford. I love that anywhere I want to go is not far!! The best part is that Beloit doesn’t have many big name stores for shipping other than essentials so the traffic is very minimal.

The best parts of Beloit:

The brand new baseball stadium downtown!
The gorgeous YMCA overlooking the river.
The exceptional baseball fields for kids.
The Beloit film festival.
The diverse schools
Big hill park
The HUGE farmers market!!
The rock river
The many trails
Great variety of restaurants for a small city.

These are just a small portion of what we love and why we chose to raise our growing family here. The crime is always on our radar, but it was living in shorewood (suburb of Milwaukee) as well. In Beloit the crime ridden areas are pretty secluded to certain areas. Read Less

Beloit, Wi; First impression coming from Illinois User Rating 2.5 rating By Anonymous ( Apr 26, 2018) Beloit is not a town that I found very visually appealing. The roads and many of the building show their age and could use a fresh coat of paint. That also means there's history there, and that's why I visited Beloit. I love learning about Wisconsin and Beloit has a deep and rich ...Read More history. The town is right on the border with Illinois, so it doesn't exactly set the best first impression for the state but it does have some redeeming qualities.

Beloit has many museum like attractions. The Angel Museum was something my daughter found very interesting. The Wright Museum of Fine arts was a stop that sparked her creativity for sure. I really enjoyed the Beckman Mill, its a HUGE park with multiple historic buildings on it along with ponds and trails that make it easy to get lost in nature.

Within the community is a LARGE farmers market. Quality produce at good prices, the strawberries were delicious. They sell more than just produce too. Little nick nacks and crafted things are also sold. Read Less
