Athens City Government 0.5 rating By Anonymous ( Nov 07, 2019) I have been battling the city of Athens over subdivision drainage problems that is ruining my yard. They have promised to fix it for over two years but have received nothing but lies and unprofessional attitudes. I have come to the realization that the Athens government consist o ...Read More f a good ole boy system that have known each other for years and are only concerned with things that affect themselves. I watched a worker do 15 minutes of work and then complete the hour playing on his phone. The continually have told me they would fix this subdivision problem and then they do absolutely nothing. I am putting my home on the market and leaving Limestone County and I would certainly not recommend moving here. Read Less

Nothing much to do here, including restaurants to eat at or places to shop (Walmart?). Madison and Huntsville are within an hour to do real shopping and going out for more food options. You are in the bible belt so watch your ...Read More language. Oh and if you move there from the north you are "The Yankee" to everyone you meet and also the people you work with! The weather is good in the summer (not to humid), but you will be scraping ice off your windows (winders or windas there) so buy or bring your scraper with you. This is small town usa with nothing to do! Read Less
