Always Enough Fish in Ashtabula, OH User Rating 3 rating By Anonymous ( May 16, 2018) Ashtabula, Ohio means "Always Enough Fish to Go Around" and is an important industrial port on Lake Erie. Ashtabula is 7.91 square miles. Ashtabula, Ohio is about an hour from Cleveland, Ohio. The city was also an important destination for African-American slaves of the Undergrou ...Read More nd Railroad. Slaves hoped to escape to Canada.

NASA used the city for extrusion of depleted and enriched uranium. Urban Meyer is from Ashtabula. The town is also referred to in a number of poems and songs, including Carl Sandburg's "Crossing Ohio when Poppies Bloom in Ashtabula." The town hosts an annual "Blessing of the Fleet" event. Bob Dylan also referred to Ashtabula on his "Blood on the Tracks" album.

The town suffers from high crime, low employment and sub-standard housing. It does have good education and an affordable cost of living. You might like the Bascule Bridge Grille, Rennick Meat Market, Crow's Nest or El Puente Mexican Restaurant. There are plenty of eating establishments in Ashtabula. Read Less
