The infrastructure is not keeping pace with the population growth. High taxes and little in return. no police, old oudated municipal facillity 2 rating By Anonymous ( Jun 22, 2018) Aledo has a certain charm of a smallish city, however property and CERTAINLY school taxes are exorbitantly high and yet there is little to show for these high taxes. There is no police presence, only two "hands off" county sheriffs that dont get very involved. There is very lit ...Read More tle to no shopping within city limits, other than 3-4 yoga studios, 5-6 boutiques, and 3-4 auto/property insurance companies. No real restaurants, the city hall looks like an old military maintenance facility with landscaping. Homes are beautiful, well maintained, as the city is as well. But come on! Major focus needs to be maintained on spurring growth with "real retail" and "real restaurants", possibly tax incentives provided by the city to lure necessary retail in order to maintain the allure of Aledo. Otherwise all you have is expensive homes with affluent residents that shop elsewhere outside of city limits and begin to ponder why they pay exorbitant taxes for so little in return. I wonder if its time to get rid of the old mayor, city manager and get fresh blood with fresh views, and the understanding it takes money to make money. Read Less
