It's a short distance from Washington, D.C. and Alexandria, Virginia. The area's small town vibe is appealing to people looking for a simpler way of life. The affordability of housing draws people from other parts of Maryland ...Read More . The town has large tracts of wooded areas and farmland that offer beautiful views of unspoiled nature.

Recreation in Accokeek includes a lot of outdoor activities. The town has a recreation center and lots of trails for walking or biking. A popular spot is Piscataway Park. This is a huge wooded area with a variety of wildlife and nice views of the Potomac River. Neighboring towns like Waldorf are close by for shopping, as well as popular spots like the National Harbor.

Living in Accokeek is great for raising a family. The crime rate is low and it's considered a relatively safe area. Most people commute to other areas via the Indian Head Highway for work. Some of the best areas in Accokeek are around the Piscataway Park and the Potomac River. The price of land and properties in these areas can be expensive though. Read Less
