I spent four days on vacation in September 09 in the city of Norwalk, Connecticut with my husband and we had a great time. Norwalk is located on the Long Island Sound and it's a great place to relax and unwind.
If you're planning a trip to Norwalk, a trip to the Maritime Aquarium is a must see. The Aquarium is located in the South Norwalk section of town or SoNo, and specializes in the animals and ecology of the Long Island Sound. There's also an IMAX theater at the Maritime Aquarium. The SoNo area has lots of bars and restaurants and is the hip place to go for restaurants and nightlife. In Norwalk, there's a ferry which goes to Sheffield Island which is a nature preserve and also has a historic 182 year old lighthouse. Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum is a 62 room mansion which has been used in filming The Stepford Wives and the House of Dark Shadows. The house has a gothic look and appeal and I'm told is decorated for Christmas and other occassions. Also right beside the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion is the Stepping Stones Museum for Children which houses several interactive exhibits for children 10 and under.
