Going down the drain 0.5 rating By Anonymous ( Jan 25, 2023) 10 years ago, Mooresville was the place to be. Arguably the best suburb in the Charlotte metro. It was small, but bigger than Cornelius/Davidson, so you had more shopping and restaurant options. Schools also used to be highly regarded. President Obama even visited MGSD a few year ...Read More s back for their cutting edge technology program.

Fast forward to today and Mooresville is arguably one of the worst suburbs in all of North Carolina. Traffic is HORRENDOUS. There is one main road (Hwy 150) that goes through the entire town and causes gridlocks you couldn't even imagine. It will take you longer to drive 5 miles in Mooresville than it would in a Major city with over 1 million residents. City planning catastrophe. Mooresville has been flooded with transplants seeking a cheaper cost of living only to elevate this suburb to unrealistic financial heights. Half of the town is ritzy lake houses and the other half of town is historical and run down. Schools get worse every single year. Teachers are quitting in droves. Both high schools have drug problems so badly that students and recent graduates are found dead every 6-12 months. So sad. Mooresville has the same stores and restaurants that every other suburb in the country has, so nothing special here. Crime is getting worse by the second. House break-ins, shootouts, & murders frequently bring national attention to this small town. Best decision I ever made was leaving the town... In the past couple years every single person I know (besides 2) has left the area as well. If you have kids, please check out ANY other school districts to keep your children safe. Additionally, if you are looking for a suburb close to major attractions/amenities, keep looking as Charlotte has nothing to offer. But, if you are only looking for cheap thrills such as Walmart, Wells Fargo, and McDonalds then you will absolutely adore Mooresville!!! Read Less
Mooresville, NC - City Review 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( Apr 26, 2018) I lived in Mooresville for about six months before leaving to go to college. The small trailer park I lived in was loud and obnoxious. However, there are a few nicer homes in the city limits as well as newer apartment complexes. The apartments are very high, but there are good jo ...Read More bs in Mooresville that pay enough to support the cost of living, such as various NASCAR teams that call the city their home. Gas prices are a bit cheaper than surrounding cities. There are quite a few places to shop, such as Belk and Walmart, but there are more fast food restaurants than anything else. One restaurant that you must try while in Mooresville is Fat Boys. The restaurant has a buffet with just about anything you could imagine on the weekends, and the BBQ sandwiches are delicious.

If you're not a fan of busy roads and traffic, then consider finding a home on the outskirts of Mooresville because I-77 and Highway 21 are main thoroughfares in the city. There are usually a few wrecks each day. Read Less
