The Deepset Problems of Northwest

Throughout my four years spent at Northwest High, I have noticed that there are many problems that plague the school. As one of the most reknown public schools in the county, and ranked 271st by Newsweek, the school faces extreme overcrowding with a capacity of 129% as of December, 2018. However, you may think that with the excess amount of students, the school must have greater funding to provide for all of the students. The truth could not be further away from that, we are using outdated textbooks and supplies, teachers have to buy their own paper to make copies, we have had “temporary” trailers for the social studies department since 2004, and the school is not in the best shape with constant leaks and damage. On the campus we keep several feral cats in a desperate attempt of pest control because the county won’t pay for pest management. On the opposite end of the scale, the school excels in athletics with a wide range to choose from. Some include Golf, Lacrosse, Rugby, Cross country, Track and etc. There are a wide variety of extracurriculars offered, some of which have received awards, and the school prides itself in the staff who teach and work with the students.
