Allendale, MI: A West Michigan College Town User Rating 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 10, 2018) Allendale, MI is definitely best described as a college town. The city's main feature is the main campus for Grand Valley State University. Though Allendale does have stuff to offer for all ages, like its parks and excellent public school system, it is mostly a college town geare ...Read More d towards catering to students and their needs. The housing market is fair, with prices varying only slightly throughout the area. The city itself isn't very big but the actual Allendale area is quite large.

Allendale is situated along Lake Michigan Drive and is about a fifteen minute drive to the bustling city and economy of Grand Rapids. Though being a college town, nightlife doesn't have much of a scene in Allendale. Most students go to Grand Rapids for their fun. Outside of the college scene, Allendale is best described as being more of a farm or "country" town. It is conveniently located in the Grand Rapids metropolitan area being close to Muskegon, Holland, and Grand Rapids. And yet, Allendale never loses its small town or country spirit.

Overall, Allendale is a great location for raising a family or for those looking to live on a farm or near a lot of land. It should also be noted that Allendale is an excellent choice for those looking to attend Grand Valley State University. Read Less
