It is regarded as the most popular train museum in the United States. The museum is open every day from 10AM until 5PM. They do close on New Years Day, Christmas Day, and Thanksgiving. The price for admission is $10 dollars for adults, and 5$ dollars for kids aged 6 through 17. Parking is available at various public parking lots at varying prices. The museum has many restored examples of locomotives. They locomotives range anywhere from the old wood burning models up to the more recent diesel operated units. The museum has a large number of rolling stock. They have freight cars, passenger cars, and cabooses of different eras. During the warmer months there is a 40 minute train ride along the Sacramento river. The price for train ride tickets are $10 dollars for adults and $5 dollars for youths.
