Truly is the best bang for your buck

As an illustration student, I can honestly say that my first year of college was a great experience at CSUF. I lived in the dorms, and there were some really great positives about that. Health services were awesome, as the doctors who attended me were thorough with diagnoses and treatments. Service at the Gastronome is amazing, as they even host events to let students voice any food needs or concerns. The dorms are also really nice as well, and you get to have a lot of fun with all the dorm people you meet and have lots of awesome experiences there.

As for the art program at CSUF, I can definitely say that if you are dedicated and persistent, and practice what you learn in class, you will do amazing as an artist. I have only had positive experiences with all of the teachers I've had. Their teaching will definitely help you grow as an artist (which also depends on how hard you work in the class). They also work in the industry, so there is also a potential network you can get there!

The only negative I'd have to say about CSUF is that it is a big commuter school, which dilutes the college experience and dismembers the community aspect a little bit. Since most students only have time to go to class and then have to go home, there aren't many left at the end of the day to connect with. In my experience, the majority of the friends I made were from the dorms. However, there are all sorts of clubs, which provide the opportunity for you to connect with people with similar interests. The only thing is that in my experience, I had to try hard and be persistent about making myself part of the group.

PS. If you're an incoming freshman and you need to take a geology class for your G.E., take Dinosaur world with Dr. James Parham. That class is honestly the most enjoyable non-art class I've ever taken and Dr. Parham is a great teacher!
