The Golden Gate Ferry system can take travelers to many different locations across the bay, while the Bay Area Rapid Transit system (known as BART) is a commuter rail that provides swift travel by land. The San Francisco Municipal Railway (known locally as Muni) is the most expansive public transit system in the city. Muni operates a large network of buses along with a light rail and metro system along with San Francisco’s iconic cable cars. The cable cars themselves are a notable attraction and locals and tourists alike love riding them throughout the city, as they provide a unique and historic view of the city.
