USS ALABAMA BATTLESHIPAttractions » Cruises, Sailing & Water Tours2703 Battleship Pkwy, 36601View siteThe USS Alabama is a museum ship and is a popular attraction located at its permanent berth in Mobile Bay, Mobile, Alabama. Its original construction started in 1940, the USS Alabama served proudly in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters of operations during World War II. She was decommissioned in 1947 when she began reserve duty, then retired in 1962. In 1964, she was moved to Mobile Bay where she has served as a museum ship ever since. Unlike many museum ships, the USS Alabama is the centerpiece in Battleship Park, which is also the retirement home to more than 1975 acres of military hardware that honor six decades of heroism, from World War II to Iraqi Freedom. Visitors to the park can imagine themselves in battle from the USS Drum, a World War II submarine that earned 12 battle stars for valor, as well as numerous combat aircraft, tanks, and a Vietnam river patrol boat.
