Adventure Calls from the Amusement Parks in Boston

Due to its relatively compact size, Boston is a great city for recreational activities. Amusement parks in Boston are not limited to just the ordinary pursuits of fun. Instead, they are rich educational experiences as well.

Ride the carousel on the famous Boston Common to get the blood flowing, and then spend the afternoon on the 2.5 mile Freedom Trail. This is a journey through time that takes the visitor back to the days of colonial America and the outbreak of the Revolutionary War. Visit historic graveyards and revered locations such as the Old North Church.

It was here that the Revolution actually began when two lanterns hung in the belfry sent Paul Revere on his ride to warn against the British. Ponder the site of the Boston Massacre and the Bunker Hill Monument. Stand on the decks of the world’s oldest warship, the USS Constitution, never beaten in battle and saved from an ignominious disposal by a famous poem.

Take a short trip over to Battleship Cove and marvel at the mighty 16-inch guns of the USS Massachusetts. Explore the numerous other vessels in the world’s largest museum collection of naval vessels. These include two restored WWII-era PT boats similar to PT-109, the one made famous by President John F. Kennedy.

For more traditional fun, Six Flags New England on the Massachusetts-Connecticut border is home to two terrific roller coasters. Superman, the Ride of Steel and the innovative floorless Batman, the Dark Knight provide enough thrills to last all summer long. Among the more than 60 other rides are many that are suitable for younger children. The park is also renowned for its many water rides and playgrounds.
