A growing suburb located several miles southwest of Las Vegas, the city of Henderson has quickly evolved into an emerging city of over 250,000 residents. Though Henderson didn't officially become a city until 1953, it has experienced rapid growth and is generally considered having a slightly higher standard of living compared to its more famous neighbor in the southern Nevada desert. Located along the route from Las Vegas to Hoover Dam, Henderson enjoys warm weather for most of the year though the temperature can get over 100 degrees in the summer.
One of the top neighborhoods in Henderson, which stretches from Interstate 15 toward Boulder City and Lake Mead, is Green Valley Ranch. Ranking as the best neighborhood in the state of Nevada in terms of livability, this area is conveniently located directly south of Highway 215. Its other boundaries are the northern edge of Horizon Ridge Parkway and the streets of Pecos Road and Stephanie Street. Blessed with a low crime rate, high graduation rates, and a strong housing market, Green Valley Ranch is a solid place to live across the board. The big reason as to why Green Valley Ranch stands out are the amenities. Green Valley Ranch casino has been popular to local residents since it opened in 2000 and houses a 10-screen movie complex. Right next door the District shopping center which also features many fine eateries such as the Elephant Bar.
What many consider to be another great neighborhood in Henderson - and the state - in terms of livability resides just west of Green Valley Ranch. The area of Westgate also ranks highly in many of the similar qualities as Green Valley. With a high average income per household, very low crime rate, a strong housing market, Westgate has many of the features incoming families look for. With housing divisions along Eastern Avenue, a road stacked with restaurants such as Twin Peaks, Asia Buffet, and Hooters as well as shopping and gyms, access to amenities is easily within reach of its residents. Westgate also has the Henderson Executive Airport as well as some tourist spots such as a few museums within its streets.
In terms of a newer neighborhood, Anthem is located to the south of Westgate and on the southwest corner of the city of Henderson, away from much of the hustle and bustle of city life. While there is strong employment and a booming housing market to go along with one of the lowest crime rates in the entire Las Vegas metro area, Anthem is far away from a number of amenities. The main draw of Anthem is its seclusion as well as a young, developing area for residences. The main drawback is that it is far away from many amenities and attractions to the area. On the other hand, it does provide a convenient backdoor route to I-15 South toward southern California.
