National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy CenterAttractions » MuseumsThe National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center is considered to be an addition to the original National Air and Space Museum located in Washington DC, however the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center is located in Fairfax, Virginia. The center opened in 2003 and is able to showcase thousand of airplanes which are too large or those that are simply too large for the DC museum. Among the entire collection that is showcased at the center, the special centerpiece is the space shuttle Discovery found in the James McDonnell Hangar. Other incredible planes in the collection includes the B-29 Enola Gay and the Boeing Dash 80. Also featured is an observation tower where visitors can see the air traffic at Dulles International Airport, flight simulators, an IMAX theater, and gift shop dedicated to everything about airplanes, rockets, and space. There is also an on site restaurant for hungry tourists.
