Bakeries from the past in Oakley I grew up in Oakley, having lived on Isabella avenue until 1956. During those first 15 years of my life, I frequented two bakeries on Madison Road: one being Klespies (spelling?), which was next to St. Cecilia's church; and I don't remember the name of the other (Oakley Bakery, maybe?), which was further south on Madison Road, closer to the Ambassador theater. Between the two of them, there were some great pastries to be had. Does anyone know of bakeries in the Cincinnati area that sell pastries similar to what you could get back in the '50's, such as the ones I described? I moved to Kettering, Ohio, in 1956. We had bakeries available to us, but none like the ones I mentioned above. Now, having lived in Maine for over 30 years, I have the same problem, locating bakeries with REALLY good pastries.
