Think twice before you move here. This town is noisy due to planes and trains. Camas and Washougal are so-called quiet zones for the train whistles. Nice theory but the train operators don't honor the quiet zone and blast their horns anyway. Expect to wake up at 6 am or earlier every day. Don't believe what the realtors tell you. The PDX flight path approach and departure lane from Seattle flies directly over Camas/Washougal. We're talking over 200 flights a day. The Georgia Pacific pulp mill stinks out downtown Camas, and west and north Camas. Washougal and areas north of Camas High School are mostly spared from the rotten egg stink. Housing is very expensive due to scarcity. Yet if you end up buying a home in the noisy/stink zone, it won't sell quickly unless you are giving it away.
