Belton $60M School Bond Several cities are in the District of Bell County. On May 12, 2012 the Belton ISD had a $60M school bond up for vote which passed. This bond will allow for three new schools. The district says the owner of a $100,000 house will pay $117 a year in additional taxes as a result of the bond issue. Only Belton residents voted on this bond and not the entire district. Because of the passage, every owner of a $100.000 house in the district has to pay for this bond by raising their taxes. If Belton wanted the new schools, than they along should pay for their own schools. Why do other cities have to pay for their schools? I can understand the Jail system because we all send our offenders there. Until we build our own jail, than we have to support the jail but we don’t send our children to their schools. Something must change with this system.
