Safe Quiet Suburbs 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( Jun 16, 2020) -Plenty of places to go play your favorite sport (parks, golf/frolf courses, skatepark, etc) or take a short drive to Arlington to hit up Six Flags or The Fort worth zoo! Maybe play some paintball in fort worth at fun on the run!
-Lots of lakes around I believe 15 within 1 hour dr
...Read More ive from town if you like to fish or just be on the water! Marine creek, Eagle Mtn, Lake Worth, and arlington are all within 20-30 min away!
-We also are a small town so we are so close to other towns and piggyback off their community events like Kellers Crawfish event ; there are still fun events at Capp Smith park with live music from time to time - but not like Denton's music fest or anything like that
-Nightlife consists of a some fun bars here and there - no clubs or anything but it is a small town and not too far from fort worth if you want to go two stepping or go body grind on some randos ! Or just go to party cove on eagle mtn !
-Biggest employer in Watauga is Target to my knowledge ; not a good place for a desk job. Watauga is close to fort worth and mid cities though which has plenty of desk jobs that pay well and other jobs. Bell helicopter is 15-20 min from Watauga and is a fantastic place to work
- Dining has some good southern eats - good chicken, shrimp, catfish, diners, few good pizza/italian spots, actually a good little japanese spot - a good little mix of food - some pretty good mexican food too! but it is not going to be Plano or Deep Ellum like some reviewers may hope for
-Shopping is standard issue working class suburbs : Target , Walmart, Academy - you can always go to Dillards/the mall in NRH which is a short drive for some designer clothes.

It is a good place to raise a family as it is safe and quiet plus has Fort Worth down the road and Dallas right down the other road a little bit further away - tons to do! Read Less
You Can't Be Serious 1 rating By Anonymous ( Jun 04, 2020) This thing is a joke. Watauga is a _beep_ town if I ever saw one. I should know, I live here. Terrible property tax that apparently goes into the city employees' cake fund since the community stinks. There is absolutely zero culture and similar community ambience. It's just a ste ...Read More rile poor man's white town where everyone is obsessed with guns and monster trucks and Trump paraphernalia. It should really be called Rednecksville instead of Watauga.
Overly congested with modest cookie-cutter houses. Did I say absolutely no character? Sparse employment opportunities in the immediate area aside from tinsely retail, although situated between other localities that actually are a destination such that you can expect horrible daily congestion on the commuter thruways such as Denton Hwy, Rufe Snow, and Tarrant Pkwy.
Whatever algorithm areavibes uses, it screwed up big time here. I can get guarantee you'll suffer a reduction in quality of life if you move to this town. Read Less
Great place to raise kids 4.5 rating By Rygiewicz ( Jul 08, 2014) I have lived in watauga for about 8 years now. Very small city, but right in the middle of everything. If you want to go to Keller for shopping, the water park in North Richland Hills and the Stockyards in downtown Fort Worth, Watauga is the best place to reside. The city is very ...Read More strict about things like yard sales and trash being out on the right day and making sure your lawn is mowed. The city puts on carnivals and fun runs every year and there is a fantastic little park with a 1 mile trail that goes around a duck pond. The playground has newer equipment and is always kept very clean. The library, which is within walking distance of the park, is also wonderful, lots of activities for kids of all ages. Read Less
