It is one of the oldest cities in San Diego County, and it is blessed with natural scenery that is truly unique. The city is smaller than Oceanside to the west, but larger than Carlsbad. Escondido has experienced steady growth in the last decade. This growth has been supported by new construction of housing that is more affordable than areas along the county's coast.
