Generally safe city with great residents 3.5 rating By cam12910 ( Feb 22, 2013) Altona is a great place to live. Reasonable distance to local attractions. Great atmosphere all around town. Not a lot of traffic through the center of town. There is no nightlife. However there is a great campsite, along with nice 2 mile long trail along the Great Chazy Riv ...Read More er. For natural attractions we have the Flat Rock. It is known for its ample supply of fresh ripe blueberries. Every year in June, the town holds its annual Old Home Day with a parade, field day, Altona's Got Talent Show, and fireworks. Then in August, we have our annual town wide yard sale, which draws thousands of people into the town. Read Less
